Vertical tensioning unit for a conveyor belt
A vertical tensioning unit for a conveyor belt, worked out in full as one coherent 3D assembly. The structure maintains constant belt tension by means of a vertically moving tensioning carriage carrying the required ballast. It combines a robust steel structure with an operating platform, safe means of access compliant with EN ISO 14122 and an overhead support structure. A design built around safety, functionality and precision.
What you see
A load-bearing steel structure made up of a main frame and secondary support structures. At its center sits the vertically moving tensioning carriage, carrying the required ballast, on which the return pulley is mounted. The installation is fitted with an operating platform, ladders, walkways and handrails compliant with EN ISO 14122, so that every operating and inspection point can be reached safely and ergonomically.
- Vertically moving tensioning carriage carrying the required ballast
- Operating platform for mechanically locking the tensioning carriage
- Ladders, walkways and handrails compliant with EN ISO 14122
- Vertical guides for stable, accurate movement of the tensioning carriage
- Robust steel structure, anchored to concrete foundations
What happens technically
The conveyor belt is held continuously at the prescribed tension by a vertically moving tensioning carriage carrying the required ballast. The ballast supplies the necessary tensioning force, so the belt stays at the correct tension regardless of elongation, wear or load.
When maintenance or a belt change is needed, a winch moves the tensioning carriage to the required position. From the operating platform, the carriage can then be locked mechanically, so the return pulley can be released safely and work on the belt can be carried out under controlled conditions.
The vertical guides keep the carriage stable and accurately guided throughout its full travel. All ladders, walkways and handrails are designed to EN ISO 14122, which guarantees safe access for operation, inspection and maintenance.
Where this approach pays off
Vertical tensioning units are used in conveyor belt systems where constant, reliable belt tension is essential to efficient and dependable operation. The combination of a robust steel structure, a precisely guided tensioning carriage and means of access compliant with EN ISO 14122 results in an installation that is safe, durable and easy to maintain.
The complete 3D model is built parametrically, so the structural height, the travel of the tensioning carriage, the ballast, the position of the operating platform and all other dimensions can be adapted to the specific project requirements. Project-specific solutions can therefore be developed quickly, with shorter engineering times and more efficient production.
